Steering Committee on Legal and Intellectual Property Rights

This committee promotes the general adoption of laws, regulations and systems affecting the electronics and IT industries, and adopts a comprehensive perspective in preparing strategies related to intellectual property issues concerning electronic equipment and components. It also examines and promotes necessary policies and gathers information. The steering committee not only coordinates with subordinate organizations, but also implements activities concerning practical matters.
 Main Activities
1. Developing infrastructure for legal systems associated with e-commerce
2. Examining policies on competition contained in antimonopoly laws
3. Examining matters related to copyright laws
4. Examining matters related to remuneration systems for audio and video home recordings
5. Examining the protection and utilization of industrial property laws for patents, trademarks, designs and the like, and examining the frameworks of relevant legal systems
6. Examining and implementing measures to deal with matters associated with the protection of intellectual property in overseas markets, including measures to deal with counterfeit goods
