Hitachi’s efforts to combat global warming in ICT field
- Energy saving project for datacenters -

In the ICT field, it has become a common problem of increasing energy consumption of datacenters. Hitachi group develops and sells equipments and facilities in datacenters, and launched a project to reduce the datacenter energy. It aims to cut back on electricity by 50% of a datacenter to the maximum. To achieve this goal, Hitachi group is developing power reduced ICT equipments as well as operation methodologies of a whole datacenter including air conditioners.

Fujitsu aims to contribute to environmental load reduction in the fields of whole society by providing Green IT products ("OF" IT) and solutions ("BY" IT). Fujitsu will introduce its policy and a new project called Green Policy Innovation that aims to reduce CO2 emissions of more than 7 million tons in the period from 2007 to 2010. And a medium-term environmental vision called Green Policy 2020 to clarify the direction over the next several decades will be presented.

Mitsubishi Electric: Tackling Global Warming through "Green IT"

In 2007 the Mitsubishi Electric Group announced "Environmental Vision 2021," a plan that aims to reduce CO2 emissions resulting from product usage by 30% and to reduce by 30% the total CO2 emitted during production. As part of this vision, the company is leveraging its strengths in creating energy-saving devices and products to promote Green IT. These technologies are applied in a broad range of product categories, such as air conditioners, elevators, transportation systems, industrial automation systems and satellite communications equipment.

Now climate control is global challenge, and CO2 reduction at industry is effective, but still slow at home. We help such home CO2 reduction w/ enabling fine monitoring and controlling per each circuit (equipment) than regular HEMS only manage total energy usage. Here we introduce development background, current status, and future of our HEMS, “Lifinity ECO management system”, w/ multi-display capability, and also introduce whole building/area energy saving.
