Guide to using LCDs

Even when using high performance LCDs, they cannot realize their full potential without proper settings and usage. Please check the following points.

Adjust the brightness/contrast
[Explanation]LCDs are fitted with buttons or dials to adjust the brightness. A screen that is too dark or too bright is difficult to see. Adjust the brightness as you like.
The most suitable brightness will depend on the personal preference of the user.
[Hint]
The image quality of the display will depend on the surrounding light.
The optimum settings of brightness/contrast will also depend on the displayed images, e.g. text, graphic images or natural images.

Check setup when making analogue connections
[Explanation]If the PC connections is identical to that for a CRT display (analogue connection), the setting will need to be adjusted for compatibility. Although most of models do this automatically, if the display appears out of focus, check this feature.
This is not necessary for digital connection such as notebook PCs.
[Hint]
This cannot be setup properly unless something is displayed on the screen.
It is sometimes called "clock" or "phase" in the setup menu.

Set to the optimum display resolution
[Explanation]LCDs have a specified optimum display resolution (e.g. 1024 X 768 pixels). Check this before purchasing and use the recommended display resolution as much as possible.
[Hint]
LCDs can often be used at display resolutions other than the recommended level but this may cause images to appear out of focus or reduce the size of images.

Find the most comfortable position for the LCD
[Explanation]LCDs feature positioning flexibility. Place the LCD in the most comfortable position while also allowing for correct posture.
[Hint]
Ergonomically, it is recommended to position the display where you can look down on it and keep a viewing distance of over 50cm.
