Recently Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) are employed in various equipments such as PC, TV, cellular phone, and digital still camera, having the advantage of its features of low power consumption and small footprint.
The volume of waste LCDs is expected to increase rapidly in proportion to popularization of LCDs in near future and it would be very important to cope with these environmental issues.
Liquid crystal materials used for LCDs are proven as safety materials through various tests though once they were misunderstood as hazardous ones in the past. So our association has made efforts in providing the correct information.
Furthermore we, as an industry association, are promoting to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases such as PFC (Perfluoro Compounds) during the manufacturing of LCDs.
We are conducting activities aiming to realize "An Environmentally Conscious Display" throughout whole life cycle stage of LCDs from manufacturing to the final disposition.
