Plan for Implementation
- 1. Scope
-
Electronic computers and related equipment* must satisfy the Guideline to reduce harmonic emissions caused by electrical and electronic equipment for Household and General use (hereafter simply “Japanese Guideline for Reduction of Harmonic Emission”) prepared by the Public Utilities Department of the Agency of Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), based on the plan given herein for guideline implementation.
This association shall monitor the status of implementation of this plan following their adoption.
* | Electronic computers provided for in this implementation plan are equipment falling under intermediate classification “52-Electronic computers and related devices” in the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications product classification system, and which are manufactured or sold by members of this association |
- 2. Definitions
-
The meanings of terms used in this plan are as follows. For the meanings of other terms, see “3. Definitions” in Japanese Guideline for Reduction of Harmonic Emission.
(1) | Nominal rated input voltage
The rated voltage (V nom) is the value specified by the manufacturer on the nameplate or in the instructions or other documentation. When the rated voltage of the equipment is indicated as a voltage range, V nom shall be replaced by the nominal voltages of all power systems which can be used with the equipment. |
(2) | Rated input power
This is the effective power (watts) at the nominal rated input voltage under steady- State operating conditions specified by the manufacturer on the nameplate or in the manual or other instruction documentation. |
(3) | Rated input current
The input current (amps) at the rated input power. |
- 3. Appliance
-
| Equipment with a rated input power of 1 kW or less: This plan shall apply to all equipment shipped as new products on or after January 1, 1996. |
| Equipment with a rated input power of more than 1 kW: This plan shall apply to all equipment shipped as new products on or after January 1, 1997. |
- 4. Equipment Classification
- Classification shall be according to “4. Classification of Equipment (Division into classes)” in Japanese Guideline for Reduction of Harmonic Emission (this plan concern equipment in Classes A and D).
- 5. Harmonic Current Limiting Values
- limit values shall be according to “5.2 Harmonic current limits” Japanese Guideline for Reduction of Harmonic Emission.
Class A equipment shall be applied provisional limit values of table 1A and table 1-1A (3 phase 200V equipment) in Japanese Guideline for Reduction of Harmonic Emission until Dec.31,2003.
Moreover, the application term about limits for class D equipment having an active input power 75W or less (exceeding 50W ) ,was postponed from Dec.31, 2000 to Dec.31, 2003.
